|The Celestial Sphere: DVD Supplement|
We are pleased that our Supplement has been|
"Recommended" by a number of school boards.
Here is a 82 page e-book (in Adobe Acrobat format) for The Celestial Sphere DVD. It covers the material of the DVD in greater depth and introduces other topics useful in understanding stars and galaxies.
The e-book is laid out with links from the table of contents and time markers so readers can jump forward to specific topics.
This first chapter contains background material about the program and how it was filmed. The five remaining sections provide more in depth material than was possible in the program.
Background of the Production
A Star Primer
A Solar System Primer
A Galaxy Primer
The second chapter provides a summary of the program. It is separated into five sections and 18 sub-sections each with their corresponding time code from the beginning of the title slide.
2.2 Annual & Sky's Apparent Motion |
The Milky Way
2.3 Constellations & Star Names |
More Southern Stars
2.4 Deep Sky Objects |
2.5 Other Phenomena|
The third chapter contains the text for the narration. This makes the book and The Celestial Sphere program very good for an ESL (English as a Second Language) course. It will also assist teachers in forwarding the program to section they wish to present in class.
